Art of flower power

Hills Gazette (Kalamunda) - - NEWS -

AWARD-winning florists from Kalamunda will share their botanical arranging skills in a series of workshops open to the public.

Wild Seasons Flowers owner Maria Hart said there was increasing interest from people to learn floral arranging.

“I saw a gap in the industry to offer people the opportunity to learn how to produce a range of floral creations in the Hills without travelling to the city,” she said.

“It is somewhat of a lost skill, as people don’t have the same gardens as generations gone by and everybody is busier these days.

“But there is such beauty and joy in having flowers in the home and people are rediscovering that.”

Mrs Hart said the workshops were ideal for everyone from beginners to enthusiasts.

“This month we will be hosting a workshop to guide people through each stage of designing their own wildflower arrangement using Australian natives and South African natives,” she said.

“Also on this month is an Art with Flowers workshop with Faire & Co to give people the chance to paint a beautifully curated floral arrangement.

“Faire & Co is an inspiring space to paint and there will be beautiful bouquets as inspiration.”

Mrs Hart said next month the workshops would have a Christmas in July theme.

“The workshop will show you how to construct your own handmade Christmas wreath, as well as workshops on how to create a gorgeous Christmas table centre,” she said.
