Firefighters bolstered

Hills Gazette - - NEWS -

VOLUNTEER firefighters in the Hills have taken delivery of two light tankers funded through the emergency services levy paid by Mundaring Shire ratepayers.

The new appliances are part of the Glen Forrest and Parkerville volunteer fire brigades’ incident response fleet.

Glen Forrest brigade captain Mark Jeans said the new appliance replaced the brigade’s 10year-old tanker and was pivotal to firefighting and hazard reduction burning activities.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services supplied the purpose-built vehicles, each worth more than $140,000.

Chief bush fire control officer Jamie O’Neill said crew protection on the fire ground was paramount.
