On trail of great idea
MEN’S Shed and Garage Sale Trail are getting ready to celebrate the third year of a fruitful partnership.
This year’s Garage Sale Trail is on October 21 and 22, and it’s Australia's largest re-use event.
Men’s Shed, one of Australia’s largest male-based community organisations, is proud to be part of such a wonderful movement.
“Garage Sale Trail is a great initiative,” Australian Men’s Shed Association executive officer David Helmers said.
“It not only provides an opportunity for people to sell their wares, but also encourages social interaction throughout the entire community, as well as the environmental aspect with unwanted goods finding a new life rather than going to landfill.
“Men’s Sheds throughout Australia benefit through participation in the Trail for the same reasons.”
Garage Sale Trail co-founder Andrew Valder said the feeling was mutual.
“Garage Sale Trail and Men’s Shed have so much in common,” Mr Valder said.
“The culture of men fixing things or making things sits smackbang in the middle of Garage Sale Trail’s mission of promoting re-use.
“Add to that the idea of men coming together and creating a local community and it’s hard to think of a better partner for what Garage Sale Trail is all about – reuse and community-building.”
