THE school holidays provided the perfect training ground for youngsters to try their hand at triathlon.

Phoenix Triathlon Club secretary Claire Slater said it had launched a club in the Perth Hills to cater for individuals of all abilities who would like to have a go.

“A big emphasis for the club is to encourage children to have a go and develop a love for all things swim, bike and run,” she said.

“We held two very successful Trystars clinics at Guildford Grammar, where children learnt ocean water swimming techniques, bike handling skills, transition essentials and most importantly how much fun triathlons are.”

The club will hold junior sessions in term 4.

“All sessions, while fun, cater for all abilities and are about developing skills and working towards achieving your own goals,” Ms Slater said.

“Starting next month there will also be regular ocean water swims at Lake Leschenaultia.”

Students are being encouraged to have a go at the sport of triathon.
