Gig in support of homeless
LOCAL musicians will come together at Funk Cider tomorrow to raise money for Perth’s homeless.
Gig for the Homeless is the first of its kind at the cidery but may not be the last, with organiser Marshall Lambert hoping to hold more events to raise awareness about the plight of Perth’s homeless and to make a difference.
It will go towards supporting Orange Sky – an organisation that provides a free mobile laundry service to homeless people around Perth.
Mr Lambert said he came up with the idea after coming face-to-face with how significant the issue was.
“I was coming home from a concert in the city and I saw how many people were on the streets sleeping rough – it really woke me up to the issue,” he said.
Bands including The Blind River Blues Band, Manala Muzic, Chaos Engine, Dynamic Covers and Marshall Lambert will be performing on the day, with other bands welcome to play.
Funk Cider co-owner Marty Michael said they were more than happy to support the cause and host the event.
Gig for the Homeless is on February 17 from 1pm to 5pm.
Entry is a gold coin donation.
