PEO­PLE who cham­pion the rights of an­i­mals are in line for a new set of awards, with nom­i­na­tions clos­ing Wed­nes­day.

The RSPCA WA ini­tia­tive will recog­nise the com­mit­ment and courage of those peo­ple who have helped save an­i­mals.

RSPCA WA chief ex­ec­u­tive David van Oo­ran said the char­ity wanted to hear from the com­mu­nity.

“By invit­ing peo­ple to share sto­ries of oth­ers’ brav­ery and de­ter­mi­na­tion to help an­i­mals, we hope a rip­ple ef­fect will be cre­ated to in­spire oth­ers to treat an­i­mals with kind­ness and com­pas­sion and con­trib­ute to rais­ing an­i­mal wel­fare stan­dards in WA,” he said.
