Makin tracks in car club

VIN­TAGE car en­thu­si­ast Nigel Makin hit the open road this week through the Avon Val­ley in his 1929 Tri­umph Su­per 7, join­ing other devo­tees from the Pre-War Sports Car Club.

The club is cel­e­brat­ing its 20th an­niver­sary with a four-day rally that started at Oakover Es­tate in Mid­dle Swan be­fore tak­ing in some of the best driv­ing roads in Bev­er­ley, York and Cun­derdin.

“The range of cars tak­ing part are quite rare and some of great beauty, from Bent­leys to MGs to Amil­cars,” Mr Makin said.

“I have been re­search­ing the Tri­umph for more than 20 years, which led me to the orig­i­nal car, the Imp, which was driven and raced with suc­cess by Eric Arm­strong right here in WA.”
