Big chance at home

Hills Gazette - - SPORT -

around the AFL gets amped up even further than it does during the rest of the year.

As a player you notice it; everywhere you go people are talking about the football and the possibilities.

The best eight teams in the competition have qualified for finals, so every game is going to be a challenge. We start against Collingwood at Optus Stadium on Saturday night and we’re really looking forward to it.

Obviously it’s an advantage to have a full house, with mostly our fans in the seats, but again that does not guarantee anything. We will need to be at our best because they are a quality team and finished third after the home and away season.

It’s great to see our fans so excited about our opportunity and while we understand the hype and are excited about this phase of the season, so far all we have done is tick off one important box.

When you start preseason training it’s all about being involved in September, being part of the AFL finals series.

We have managed to qualify in second position, which is a great platform, but we know it brings no guarantees.

We have worked hard to be in this position, not just this season but over the past few years.

This is our fourth finals campaign in a row and it’s important to consistently give yourself a chance.
