Hills Com­mu­nity Aid in part­ner­ship with St Matthew’s Unit­ing Church Baulkham Hills are tak­ing reg­is­tra­tions for the next round of com­puter classes for begin­ners. Classes of­fer adults of any age the op­por­tu­nity to re­ceive one to one tu­tor­ing on in­tro­duc­tory top­ics such as ac­cess­ing the in­ter­net and us­ing email. Classes are com­pletely free and run for 1 hour, each Wed­nes­day over 5 weeks. Awe­some Achiev­ers: Por­trait Sto­ries from Aus­tralians of the Year

Hawkes­bury Re­gional Gallery in Wind­sor launches its 2016 pro­gram with a spec­tac­u­lar ex­hi­bi­tion from the Na­tional Por­trait Gallery in Can­berra: Awe­some Achiev­ers: Sto­ries from Aus­tralians of the Year.

The ex­hi­bi­tion fea­tures se­lected re­cip­i­ents of the Aus­tralian of the Year awards over the past 55 years, grouped around eight main themes.

Dr Anne San­ders from the Na­tional Por­trait Gallery will be speak­ing at the open­ing by the Mayor on Fri­day, 12 Fe­bru­ary at 6:30pm. En­try is free and re­fresh­ments will be served. The ex­hi­bi­tion runs un­til 27 March.

En­joy a morn­ing with au­thor Isaac Bacirongo

Hear the story of BaTembo Pygmy, Isaac Bacirongo and his fight to save his iden­tity from ex­tinc­tion plus the jour­ney that took him from the Congo, through the bru­tal­ity of dic­ta­tor­ship and war, to the ar­rival and set­tle­ment in the sub­urbs of Syd­ney.

Hawkes­bury Li­brary Ser­vice will host an au­thor talk with Isaac Bacirongo and Michael Nest on Wed­nes­day, 17 Fe­bru­ary at 10:00 to 11:30am where you will hear Isaac present his mem­oir ‘Still A Pygmy’.
