Louise Markus, Federal Member for Macquarie said the upcoming election is a clear choice between the Coalition’s Plan for a strong new economy, with more jobs and more opportunity, or Labor’s higher taxes, more waste and weak borders.
A Coalition Government will secure a more prosperous future for the people of Macquarie, and Greater Western Sydney families, through innovative industries, a strong defence plan, trade deals that will give our farmers a competitive edge and through a package that will grow small businesses and create jobs.
As a mother and a former social worker of 25 years I understand the importance of investment in education and jobs for youth – our future leaders.
Young people in Macquarie will benefit from the Coalition Government’s education plan which includes an increase in recurrent funding by 27 per cent. This funding will be needs-based to support student achievement.
Youth looking for work will benefit from the Youth Jobs PaTH initiative which offers an internship placement of 4-12 weeks. It will be voluntary and provide incentives to businesses to host an intern and a $200 fortnightly payment to job seekers on top of their income support.
We will also continue to deliver critical 21st century infrastructure. Locally we have already invested $20 million in the Richmond Bridge intersections upgrade, with stage 1 complete and stage 2 on the way.
We also offer benefits from tax cuts – which Labor want to stop – and a company tax rate reduction to help local businesses grow and employ more staff.
We understand the economic challenges, which is why we have a strong plan to keep spending under control while guaranteeing support for vital services.
I will continue to be a strong voice for the people of Macquarie.
