Our group has been very active making quilts for the ‘Aussie Hero’ in our defence forces. So far we have delivered 8 and another 5 are on the way to the Aussie Hero’s coordinator. We have also donated a bolt of batting as some quilts made by other groups are just the top layer and are finished off by us before being sent abroad.

The photo shows one of the “Hero” quilts made by our group. We have a monthly assignment and this is to make a block. The completed blocks are sashed, a border added to make them to the specified size, then bound off, ready for delivery to the co-ordinator.

We have also donated quilts to the Riding for the Disabled, Make a Wish Foundation, Bupa at Round Corner and Our Lady of Grace on Old Northern Road to name just some of the establishments and charities we have supported over the years. The donated quilts are used for fund raisers.
