Mark Tedeschi AM QC and Se­nior Crown Pros­e­cu­tor for NSW will visit the Hawkesbury on Tues­day, 5 Septem­ber from 6pm to 7:30pm to dis­cuss his new book, Mur­der at Myall Creek, the most sen­sa­tional trial of mass mur­der in Aus­tralia’s le­gal history.

Mark Tedeschi will share the true story of the 11 con­victs and for­mer con­victs who were put on trial for the mur­der of 28 In­dige­nous men, women and chil­dren in 1838 at Myall Creek in the New Eng­land district of NSW. Read­ers of this novel will see pros­e­cu­tor John Hu­bert Plun­kett’s bat­tle to achieve jus­tice for those mur­dered at Myall Creek; a man who was mired in con­tra­dic­tions and con­tro­versy and whose ide­ol­ogy drew him apart from main­stream colo­nial so­ci­ety.

Eugenia, Mark’s first true crime novel, was short­listed in 2013 as a fi­nal­ist in the Aus­tralian Book In­dus­try Awards and the Aus­tralian Crime Writ­ers As­so­ci­a­tion Ned Kelly Awards. Mark’s sec­ond novel, Kid­napped, was also short­listed for a Ned Kelly award.
