A civic re­cep­tion to thank emer­gency ser­vices per­son­nel, vol­un­teers and re­cent award re­cip­i­ents was held at Hills Shire Coun­cil on Fri­day, July 20.

The orange clad vol­un­teers from the SES mixed with rep­re­sen­ta­tives from the Ru­ral Fire Ser­vice, Hills po­lice, Fire and Res­cue NSW and St John Am­bu­lance vol­un­teers who were all thanked by Min­is­ter David El­liott and Hills Shire Mayor Michelle Byrne.

The Mayor, Dr Byrne, said:“We are ex­tremely lucky to be able to rely on our emer­gency ser­vices and vol­un­teers for help and re­as­sur­ance when tragedy strikes.

“They make them­selves avail­able, even if it means sac­ri­fic­ing their own pre­cious time with fam­ily and friends to help those in need.”

Baulkham Hills State Lib­eral MP David El­liott thanked the emer­gency ser­vices and also praised the achieve­ments and ser­vices of re­cip­i­ents who were awarded the Or­der of Aus­tralia Medal.

“Your con­tri­bu­tion to the com­mu­nity is un­par­al­leled, and I feel priv­i­leged to share this evening in recog­ni­tion of your ex­cep­tional ef­forts,” he said.
