LIGHT THE NIGHT
A sea of 450 blue, white and gold lanterns weaved their way around Bella Vista Farm on Saturday at the first Hills Light The Night event in support of the blood cancer research.
Organising committee member Feona Henness said they were moved by the size of the crowd and the support for the walk which they hoped would raise $25,000 for the Leukeamia Foundation, far exceeding their $15,000 target.
“It was very moving to watch the lanterns being lit and then raised: gold to remember loved ones lost, white for those diagnosed themselves and then the blue to show community support. “
She admitted a few tears were shed when the “darkness transformed into a sea of glowing light”.
“A huge thank you to The Hills Shire Council and the Orange Blossom Festival for giving us this opportunity. We could not have done it without them.”
