It may have been inspired by east-coast American style, but this Sydney kitchen is all its own – thanks to those moody finishes and pulled-back classic good looks. And that second sink by the stove? “Beautiful in any cook’s language,” says HB junior sub-editor Ellie. beauty secrets:

Custom-coloured European oak flooring from Antique Floors sets the chic tone of this gloriously light kitchen, which features a triple-strength blend of Porter’s Paints Grey Pepper on the discreetly panelled island bench. Marble-look ‘Estatuario’ engineered stone from CDK Stone on top of the bench makes the island handsome and functional, while VJ walls are a nod to homeowner Kerrie’s “Hamptons-country Australian” brief to architect Walter Barda. A charming artwork by Lou Nickolls, ‘Cabbage’, adds warmth.
