once a week

• Clean out built-up lint in the dryer. This will improve its efficiency, reduce drying times and also prevent creating a fire hazard.

• Give the laundry tub a scrub and drop in a little peppermint oil for a lovely fresh scent.

once a month

• Put your washing machine on a drum-cleaning cycle and, with a front loader, wipe out the rubber seal.

• Mop the floor and wipe splashback tiles with an antibacterial spray to prevent mould.

0nce a year

• Enlist some muscle to move the washing machine and clean behind it. You’ll be amazed how much dust and lint has accumulated.
