We catch up with stylist Jackie Brown to find out how to use accent lighting in your home.

ACCENT LIGHTING adds the perfect finishing touch to any room by highlighting interior features and decorative elements and showing them in their best light. By creating focal points, considered accent lighting will bring a level of sophistication to any space. Here are three different types to try.

Truly versatile, pendants can be used in almost every room of the house as an eye-catching feature. Use a single large statement light or a row or set of matching lights, depending on what you’re highlighting below.

Show your artworks and prints off by lighting them from above. Dedicated picture lights are ideal, but a single or set of pendants can also be used to direct attention.

Strip lights and downlights installed along a bulkhead or under cabinets and floating shelves can light plain walls or workspaces and create a dramatic effect in any room.
