Stylist Jackie Brown has teamed up with Super Amart to demonstrate how to create a retro-style dining room
YOUR DINING ROOM is where you gather with friends and family to share meals and enjoy each other’s company. Going for the retro look is perfect for creating a smart yet casual dining room you’ll want to linger in.
STEP ONE Assess your space. Is your dining room better suited to a round or rectangular table? This is the easiest way to narrow down your options.
STEP TWO Choose the size of your dining table. Think about how many people you need to seat. A six-seater is ideal for a family of four to six people. It’s also a great size for entertaining.
STEP THREE Choose the style of your dining suite. Retro-look pieces are incredibly versatile and work with many interior styles. The most important thing is to choose a timber stain that works with the rest of your decor. Go for either a match or total contrast to make your dining suite a feature.
STEP FOUR Accessorise! This is where you get to add your personal touch to your dining room. Vases are great for adding interest. Try either one large piece or a group of smaller ones. Filling them with flowers and greenery will freshen up the space as well as add colour.
“Use accent pieces like these to give your dining room personality and don’t forget to add greenery!”
