International decluttering expert Peter Walsh tackles two underutilised spaces in a compact terrace.
A compact terrace gets decluttered with a super storage makeover.
LUCIE MOVED INTO HER twobedroom home two years ago.
The busy single mother who works as an executive assistant in the arts was happy with most of the rooms in a short time, but two areas still needed improving: the overcrowded space under the stairs and niches on either side of the living-room fireplace.
Former Oprah Winfrey Show advisor Peter Walsh took up the challenge. He started under the stairs, where Lucie had a stack of everyday items mixed with many of her late parents’ possessions. Peter cleared it and repurposed many treasured family pieces. Then he installed full-height feature doors so every centimetre of the space could be accessed. Next came the shelves and storage solutions.
Peter also reorganised the living room and hung six new shelves, which hold a lot of once-hidden decorative items and visually widen the space. Lucie couldn’t be happier with the result!
