Make it yourself

Enough fabric to cover two sides of a decent-sized cloud; felt for the raindrops; wadding; baker’s twine or cord; and cotton thread.

STEP 1 Make a cloud pattern freehand and place on a piece of folded fabric a few centimetres bigger than the cloud. Cut out pieces so the front and back match up. Sew together with the hem outside or in (if inside, turn inside out, then turn back after you finish), leaving a 5cm gap.

STEP 2 Fluff up wadding and insert into gap until the cloud is padded enough, then sew up the gap by hand. Repeat Steps 2 & 3 with each of the felt raindrops, leaving open at top for baker’s twine.

STEP 3 Insert twine into raindrop tops and handsew neatly to close. Attach drops to underside of cloud, calculating the lengths by sight. Add another piece of twine to the top, then hang.

Cloud hanging Kirsty put a ballet dress above the cot but this cloud works just as well.
