IN THE VEGIE PATCH
Plant tomatoes: in cold climes raise seedlings inside on window sills; if frost-free, plant outside.
Look out for cabbage moth and white butterfly, as their eggs hatch into hungry caterpillars. Pick off caterpillars, or spray with Dipel.
Get on top of weeds quickly as they germinate. Hand-weed or douse with boiling water for an eco alternative to herbicide.
Picking broccoli and Brussel sprouts? Leave the “mother plant” and you’ll get small side crops.
