5 WAYS TO RE­DUCE THE IM­PACT OF SIT­TING AT A DESK

1 Try and or­gan­ise reg­u­lar work meet­ings away from your desk. Walk­ing meet­ings are great and gain­ing pop­u­lar­ity.

2 Put a timer on your com­puter or smart­phone prompt­ing you to stand and stretch ev­ery hour. Get your whole team at work in­volved so it be­comes a group ef­fort and you don’t feel self-con­scious.

3 To try and loosen your body dur­ing part of the day, walk to and from work, or walk around for as long as you can dur­ing your lunch hour. If pos­si­ble, try not to sit for longer than three hours at a stretch.

4 Do yoga or Pi­lates classes reg­u­larly to im­prove flex­i­bil­ity, keep core strength ac­tive and cor­rect pos­ture.

5 Drink pure wa­ter or herbal tea for healthy hy­dra­tion.
