Paula and Sergio’s renovation in Mornington cost them about $70,000, but with the experience of many renovations, the couple are very specific about where their dollars are to be spent. “If your plan is to resell, then you have to spend your money on things that will really win over buyers,” says Paula. “Getting the kitchen right and looking great is crucial – much more important than expensive curtains that you may love but your buyer may hate.” Paula always pays extra attention to the front entry of the home. “It sets the mood for the rest of the house,” she says. “I also really believe in dedicating a little bit of the budget to things like gorgeous bed linen and hand towels; you really want to show off your property in the best light and you can’t do that if everything inside looks tired and dated.”
