Herbs add last-minute colour, tex­ture and vi­brancy to sal­ads, drinks, desserts or mashed pota­toes. Don’t wait un­til the su­per­mar­ket has a few sad­look­ing spec­i­mens left. Pot up some herbs now and have them at the ready for in­stant ef­fect and flavour when­ever you need it. If you have a rose­mary bush, use sprigs tied with string in small jars to dec­o­rate your ta­ble.
