When it comes to spending time at home, I find January a bit yin and yang. On the one hand, it’s all about enjoying the outdoor life (preferably sitting on a rattan sofa holding a margarita) and, on the other hand,
I like to have a New Year declutter.
After a casual straw poll I found other people lead similarly double lives. Consequently, in this issue of homes+ you’ll find hundreds of ideas, tips and products to help you create a wonderful summer home, plus lots of simple and speedy solutions to help you cull, throw, stash and store (without spending too much time away from the rattan sofa!)
We also called in some of our experts to help with the decluttering. Peter Walsh rescues one family from being buried by the contents of their wardrobe, and Meredith Kirton shares her secrets to a more streamlined garden (cleverly merging enjoying the outdoors and getting organised!)
The gorgeous readers’ homes in this issue are intentionally summery and celebrate our great outdoor lifestyle. Lana’s home is coastal-inspired (see how to create her seaside vignettes on page 38) and Nicole’s place in Sydney has a wonderful indoor/outdoor resort feel. Finally, Elizabeth shares the outside of her renovated country weatherboard with her family, a kitten and some gorgeous chickens.
Happy New Year to all of you from all of us at homes+
