You will need 1 x elec­tric drill; 1 x 5 mm bat­ten screw driver bit;

25 x 14g x 100mm bu­gle head tim­ber bat­ten screws; 1 x 200mm x 2400mm treated pine log (cut into 1 x 450mm length and 6 x 250mm lengths); 1 x long 5mm tim­ber drill bit; tim­ber putty; coarse sand­pa­per; 1 x paint­brush; 1 x 1L tin of your favourite paint.

ONE Drill screws at six equal in­ter­vals around side of large stump, un­til half­way in­serted. Use 5mm drill bit to drill a pi­lot hole in the side of each small stump.

TWO Drill a sec­ond pi­lot hole in each small stump, at a lo­ca­tion 90-de­grees around to the right from the first. On the op­po­site side of these holes, half-in­sert a screw.

THREE At­tach a small stump to the large us­ing the first pi­lot hole. When at­tach­ing the sec­ond small stump, use the sec­ond screw and pi­lot hole to at­tach both to the large stump and the small one be­side it.

FOUR Use tim­ber putty to cover screw heads. When putty is set, sand with coarse sand­pa­per and paint.
