Make a stump stool...

Homes+ (Australia) - - MY BACKYARD -

Real timber seats provide a touch of rustic charm. You will need tree stumps (ours were $70 each, from Ironwood); chainsaw; sander; oil or paint and paintbrush (optional).

ONE Create stool legs by using chainsaw to make 2 even V cuts through centre of stump base to desired depth. Discard waste.

TWO Make 2 more V cuts in the opposite direction. Discard waste. The cuts should form a cross at the base of the stool.

THREE Use sander to finish as desired. Oil, paint or leave raw.
