READER HOME OF THE YEAR
The votes are in for last year’s competition and it’s a big congrats to Alison from Queensland.
Look who won last year’s competition!
OVER TO THE WINNER...
It’s so lovely to be the bearer of good news and it was particularly great to call Alison to tell her she was our winner because she’d broken her foot the day before, by tripping over her cat! We were also delighted to find out that she’s a loyal reader of homes+. When Editor Sue called, Ally was completely taken aback. “I’m amazed and really stoked,” she said. “I pore over homes+ every month and I love it because it’s about real homes and not too high end. It’s for everyone. I also find the ideas about the little things you can do really inspiring. But it’s the real people and their homes that I love the most, so to be the reader home winner is fantastic.” Here’s another look at her home and some thoughts about why it was the readers’ favourite.
Ally is great at knowing when to spend and when to save.
She chose a wow-factor Caesarstone benchtop then created stunning artworks with her own photos in Ikea frames.
Ally has a good eye for homewares and has created some stylish vignettes. There are lots of pieces on this dresser but, because they work together well, they look interesting and not cluttered.
