TRADITIONAL SANDSTONE

Homes+ (Australia) - - STYLE & DECORATE -

A sandstone surround is quite common in many parts of Australia. The rough faceted face of the stone adds great visual warmth to the fireplace even when not in use. When alight, the play of the open flame on the offset stone picks up on its character and colours.

A mix of found and new objects will add a personal touch, while a few modern pieces will work well to contrast with the surround’s traditional design. Remember to add interest on either side of the hearth, like these metal jugs and hurricane lamp. And a cushion nearby (but not too close) means your furry friends can enjoy the heat on cold nights – it also adds a relaxed vibe.
