Heat the oven for these seasonal fruit desserts to warm up on cool nights.
WINTER BAKED FRUIT
SERVES 6 PREP 15 MINS COOK 35 MINS
3 small red-skinned apples, unpeeled, cored, halved (leave stems intact)
3 small pears, unpeeled, cored, halved (leave stems intact)
1⁄3 cup golden syrup
100g butter, chopped 2 cinnamon sticks
½ tsp ground nutmeg 2 oranges, peeled, thickly sliced
250g strawberries, halved
1⁄3 cup flaked almonds cooking oil spray 2 cups bought vanilla custard ONE Preheat oven to 180°C/160°C fan. Grease a 2.5-litre (10-cup) rectangular ovenproof dish. Place apple and pear in prepared dish. Combine golden syrup, butter, cinnamon and nutmeg in a small saucepan. Cook and stir over low heat for 5 mins or until melted and combined. Pour over fruit in dish and turn to coat. Bake, turning halfway through cooking, for 20 mins or until almost tender.
TWO Add orange and strawberries to dish and turn to coat in butter mixture. Sprinkle almonds over. Spray almonds with oil. Bake for a further 10 mins or until strawberries are just tender.
Stand for 5 mins. Serve the warm fruit with custard.
