Katie’s love affair with indoor plants began almost by accident. “In my early twenties, I killed not one, but two cacti, so it was a surprise when I realised I could not only keep plants alive, but they were starting to thrive!” she says. “My first indoor plants were the Devil’s Ivy on the kitchen cabinets. I love them because they grow in low light, can survive for a long time between watering and they make the most beautiful trailing vines.” The natural greenery pairs beautifully with the stained glass in the dining room windows and front door, and the bold sofa. “Our home is so inviting, with lots of light and colour and life, between three cats and the myriad indoor plants!” she says. Katie also has a couple of good tips for anyone about to start their own plant collection. “Talk to the staff at local nurseries, and treat yourself to a bunch of fresh flowers with your weekly grocery shop,” she suggests.
