LOUISE HAS A REAL KNACK for creating lovely vignettes using classic lamps and accessories. “I love white and glass lamp bases in timeless shapes with beautiful linen shades. They are really versatile and will suit any room.” She often teams them with large orchids, flowers or maidenhair ferns in clear glass and classic blue and white ceramic vases. Louise has a Hamptons-style home but you can apply these tips to most looks.

Work within the colour palette of your room. Start with your lamp/s, adding other accessories such as plants, photos, mementos or books.

Arrange accessories using the two (pairs) or three (trios) rule so the scene looks balanced. Here, Louise uses two lamps to create symmetry and to add pops of colour in an otherwise neutral setting.

Louise mixes textures, shapes and height to create interest. Big lamp, smaller vase, flowers etc…

Leave some unused space on shelves to avoid clutter.

Step back, check how it looks and tweak until you’re happy.
