THE HOME BREWERY

THE CONCEPT

Facing a huge cost to demolish a leaky concrete water tank, Gabrielle and Frederick instead decided to make it a home brewery and entertaining area. “It was the brewery that inspired the industrial-country aesthetic we used for the whole room,” says Gabrielle.

THE FIT-OUT

The couple bought a keg fridge that fits three 19-litre kegs, so they could have three different brews on tap. On Gumtree they found a deep 1.8 metre-long stainless steel double sink, a stainless steel prep bench and a white fridge/freezer that Gabrielle sprayed to look like stainless steel. “We did our own plumbing, put some taps in and set it up so the wastewater is used on the fruit trees next to the tank,” says Gabrielle.

THE FINAL TOUCHES

To complete the look, they added shelving for the brew products in solid black steel and Frederick made small crates to hold his long-neck bottles.
