Dayle and Nick’s bedroom is the epitome of calm understated luxury, and it’s not by accident. “It’s so important to me to have a bed and bedroom that I just can’t wait to be in,” says Dayle. “I’ve tried to make our room a really beautiful and tranquil space that is so welcoming at the end of the day.” The leafy outlook over the garden and the plantation shutters create a lovely ambience and, while there are always cushions and a throw or bedspread, there’s not too much of anything else. “Clutter and relaxation just don’t mix,” she says. “We love this room just as much on lazy weekend mornings with coffee and magazines – and the girls climbing in as well.”

Simple style

In keeping with the light colour theme, Dayle painted a timber mirror white then rubbed it back.

Smart design

A walk-in shower and frameless mirror maximise available space in the small second bathroom.
