A LICK OF PAINT WORKS WONDERS
As always, liquid gold was our greatest ally for the exterior of the house. We chose a deep grey paving paint for the rear and front porch, charcoal for the brickwork and white on window frames and trim. Metalwork that was once lost among the red bricks is now at the foreground, also in crisp white. A punch of sunny yellow for the front door, with matching yellow metal outdoor furniture, makes the house now stand out – for all the right reasons – in a suburb dominated by plain fibro and red brick homes.
The yard already had some well-established trees, so it was just a matter of adding a few neat garden beds fashioned from pine sleepers and planted with hardy, low-maintenance shrubs, scattered with woodchips.
