When Vanessa moved from her miner’s cot­tage and traded the coun­try styling for a beach-in­spired theme, she up­cy­cled many of her much-loved tim­ber pieces, in­clud­ing this hutch (above). “Dur­ing the tran­si­tion, we trans­formed any­thing with coastal po­ten­tial,” she says. “To the hutch I added door­knobs in the shapes of starfish.” She painted over the nat­u­ral tim­ber of other pieces with Rust-Oleum chalk paint.
