“MY LAUNDRY DESIGN”

Creating the perfect laundry was important for Alicia and her family. She wanted it to be functional, with plenty of storage, and aesthetically pleasing, so she used the same Ikea kitchen cabinetry and wooden benchtop as in her kitchen. “To save money, we built and installed the laundry cabinets ourselves – when I was seven months pregnant with Bonnie!” she says. Alicia also made sure the room was large enough to double as a mud room during wet weather, with gumboots stored in a cabinet with drawers. “The rain gets pretty bad out here,” she says. As well, there is a guest bathroom accessible off the laundry, so guests can walk along the verandah to access the toilet.
