These functional and spectacular kitchens impressed viewers and judges alike on The Block this year, and it’s easy to see why. The clincher? The cabinetry! Couples Sarah and Jason and Ronnie and Georgia expressed their individual style through a clever blend of thoughtful fixtures and fabulous finishes from the new Freedom Kitchens range. First up, let’s tour Sarah and Jason’s kitchen. This couple scored high points for their contemporary space that was at once glamorous and supremely functional. The integrated fridge was concealed behind Freedom Kitchens’ stunning new metallic cabinetry in platinum-hued Titan. This contrasted beautifully with the Super Matt Black on the range, the Ash Black anodised handles and the Blackened Elm cabinetry in the butler’s pantry. Sarah and Jason’s standout island bench showcased Caesarstone’s Statuario Maximus, complete with a decorative feature ledge in the new Rugged Concrete. Functionally speaking, they opted for state-of-the-art Bosch appliances, including pyrolytic oven (selfcleaning!) with added steam and warming drawer, plus an integrated coffee machine. Meanwhile, Ronnie and Georgia presented a luxurious industrial-style kitchen, with Freedom Kitchens’ new textured light concrete cabinetry in Beton and advanced appliances from NEFF. These including a new induction cook top with downdraft ventilation and Pyrolytic full steam slide and hide oven. Ronnie and Georgia’s bank of ovens was set into ceiling-to-floor Matt Black cabinetry, providing a stark and stylish contrast with the upperrun cabinetry. Concrete was definitely the star of the show. Ronnie and Georgia chose Caesarstone’s new Rugged Concrete for both their island bench and also in the butler’s pantry.
