Super Mario Galaxy

(Wii, Wii U)

Hyper - - FEATURE -

If you were going to have a conversation about the best game Nintendo has ever made, both Super Mario Galaxy games would make the shortlist. Super Mario Galaxy took the broad philosophy that the Wii had outlined with Wii Sports – that anyone should be able to play – and attached it to their signature franchise, resulting in a game that hits a perfect balance between showiness and accessibility. Both Galaxy games are near-perfect, and the multiplayer functionality – which lets another player use the Wii remote to attack enemies with star bits – is perfect for introducing non-gamers to Mario. We’re going with the first game over the second here not necessarily because it’s better – the two games are neckand-neck, really – but because if you play one you’ll eventually want to play the other, so why not start with the first game? Series best: Super Mario Galaxy 1/2
