Colour roughs

ImagineFX: Sci-fi & Fantasy Art magazine - - Workshops -

Sometimes I’ll tighten up the drawing right away, but more often I’ll do a handful of colour comps first. The weight of certain elements will change depending on the colours and values used, so I try not to do refinements that I’ll hesitate to get rid of if they’re not working later. You know, like that horrific saying in creative fields: “You can’t be afraid to kill your children.” Whoever came up with that was absolutely right. Also, a psychopath.
