Flow­ing dress lines

I ex­pand the can­vas slightly, which en­ables me to bring fab­ric from her dress down in a lit­tle dec­o­ra­tive sweep. It isn’t nec­es­sary, but I like the way it looks. Through­out all this, I’m re­fin­ing the de­tails fur­ther across the whole of the piece, with­out zoom­ing in on one area too much.

Eval­u­at­ing my progress

At this point, I take a step back and eval­u­ate how things are go­ing. I look at my colour sketch from step five, and re­alise that my cur­rent draft is miss­ing some of the things I re­ally liked from the ini­tial sketch: her dress style, the tilt of her hips, the an­gle of her arm and her fa­cial ex­pres­sion. I make some changes to the newer draft to get back on track.
