Getting into the details
Here’s where I zoom into my canvas and get into the small details. It’s at this point that I work on the eyelashes, eyebrows, stubble and wounds. I keep these details in a separate layer, and usually stick to a hard, Round brush. For painting the hair, I find that it’s best done with a streaky brush.
Adjusting my colours
Sometimes the best way to unify all the separately coloured components is through the Curves tool or using Selective Color layers. These can take a bit of fiddling, though. Channeling my sci-fi theme, I start off with some blues and then amp up the brighter tones. I also add in my own noise texture. I copy and paste this into my document and set it to Overlay.
