Once the com­po­si­tion and shot de­sign is locked, I start to add de­tails. When work­ing in a stu­dio, I usu­ally do this step on the sec­ond day (the first day is used to gen­er­ate many roughs as I can). At this stage, the think­ing part of my brain can ba­si­cally shut off. Now it’s just mus­cle work. But you have to be pa­tient, be­cause adding those de­tails can take a long time.
