Don’t un­der­es­ti­mate the power of pro­por­tions, be­cause if your pro­por­tions aren’t cor­rect, ev­ery­thing else falls apart. This is also ap­pli­ca­ble to de­sign. When sketch­ing your char­ac­ter, you should in­clude a va­ri­ety of big, medium and small shapes. This has many ad­van­tages: you can use big shapes to lead the eye to­wards im­por­tant ar­eas, al­low the de­sign to breathe, and cre­ate con­trast which in turn gen­er­ates in­ter­est.
