Next I use more darker and sat­u­rated tones with a larger Sam­pled brush to fill in the spa­ces be­tween the shadow and the light. This process is very im­por­tant. I start by us­ing a warm sat­u­rated tone to block it in be­cause of the po­si­tion of the face. Then I’ll use cool colours to con­trast with the warm tones, so the whole com­po­si­tion will re­tain its vi­brant, high-con­trast val­ues.
