First things first: you’ll need a model and prefer­ably one with enough sub­di­vi­sions to give a smooth sur­face. If yours still looks low res­o­lu­tion then head to the Geom­e­try tab and di­vide un­til you’re happy. I find that a level of 5 works best for me, en­abling me to clearly see what’s hap­pen­ing.

Make some noise

Now un­fold the Sur­face sec­tion and click the Noise but­ton to open up the in­ter­face. We’ll deal with this in a minute, but for a quick start and short­cuts you can click the Light­box but­ton and choose a pre­set from the Noise sec­tion to get an idea of what we’re work­ing with.
