KARAK­TER is al­ways will­ing to go the ex­tra mile for its clients. But in the case of Cry­tek-Mi­crosoft game Ryse, the team trav­elled to Bu­dapest. In what was a real team ef­fort, cre­ative di­rec­tor To­bias Man­newitz led artists Floris Did­den, Hen­rik Bolle, Karl Kopin­ski and Steven Bagazky in defin­ing the look and feel of the suc­cess­ful ac­tion-ad­ven­ture game.

Land­ing Bri­tan­nia fi­nal The fin­ish of the im­age was heav­ily in­spired by the “dig­ni­fied ap­pear­ance” of 19th-century epic paint­ings. KARAK­TER kept a com­plete Ro­man ar­mour set at the stu­dio for per­ma­nent ref­er­ence.
