The story set­ting is also a great way of shap­ing the gen­eral di­rec­tion of the char­ac­ter’s fash­ion and its func­tion. For ex­am­ple, a knight in me­dieval times should be wear­ing me­dieval ar­mour, not ar­mour made of cloth. I imag­ine the girl is some­thing of a prankster, able to ma­nip­u­late time to suit her ends. She wouldn’t want to stand out in sit­u­a­tions, and so the hooded cloak helps to dis­guise her and her as­sort­ment of gad­gets.
