Minor composition tweaks
Fine-tuning the details
The circular forms of the tree frame the piece and give it some energy and movement, and the flowers are adding a lot of fun detail and bits of colour. From here, it’s mostly a matter of fine-tuning of details, colour and tone. I notice that the tree is a little dark and heavy, so I make a note to lighten it up.
I always make sure to take a step back and evaluate the entire image as a whole. When working, I frequently make minor adjustments to the way the image sits on the page, either to tighten in and focus or shrink down areas to give them more space. With this piece, I feel that adding a little more space on the top is necessary, so I make a bit more room for the tree.
