7 Re­fin­ing ma­te­ri­als

Most ma­te­ri­als are both re­flec­tive and matte. I start to re­fine my ma­te­ri­als by lay­ing them one on top of each other, us­ing opac­ity. I also add weath­er­ing us­ing masks. Where the leather is worn it’ll lose re­flec­tiv­ity and sur­face tex­ture, so I use the matte pass to tweak the ma­te­rial. I do the same with the metal by bring­ing back its full re­flec­tiv­ity on scratches.
